The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday (May 7, 2026) alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to disrupt peace and divide the people of Punjab by “carrying out bomb attacks”, saying it is part of the party’s “Mission Punjab” election strategy ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters, MP Sanjay Singh said, “Bomb blasts took place at two places in Punjab on Wednesday, following which BJP leaders started making frantic statements. A similar blast took place in Maur before the 2017 Punjab elections when the Akali Dal-BJP alliance was in power and till date no clear incident has emerged.”
Mr. Singh claimed that immediately after the West Bengal elections, the BJP had announced that its next mission was now Punjab. He alleged that through ‘Mission Punjab’, the BJP aims to carry out blasts, disrupt peace, spread hatred and incite conflicts in the state.
However, the BJP leader warned that Punjab will not tolerate attempts to disrupt peace and people will give them a befitting reply that will ensure forfeiture of BJP’s election deposits.
Mr. Singh alleged that the BJP has deep links with Pakistan’s ISI and is using it to prepare bomb attacks and disrupt peace in the country. “The BJP should not attempt the same conspiracies in Punjab that it is carrying out across the country, including machine blasts, riots, violence and spreading hatred,” he said, adding that AAP would “expose” the BJP’s “mysterious” ties with the ISI and alert people across Punjab and the country about the Pakistani organization supporting violent terrorism.
