The BJP’s flagship programme, ‘Atal Modi Suparipalana Yatra’, which is currently underway across Andhra Pradesh, will soon witness the participation of senior national leaders.
Although it is an all-India programme, the Andhra Pradesh unit, led by its president PVN Madhav, has converted it into a ‘Bus Yatra’ to highlight the achievements of former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee across the state in his birth centenary year by unveiling his bronze statue at each district headquarters.
The yatra began at Dharmavaram where Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unveiled the statue. Later, it was Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s turn to unveil the statues at Madanapalle and Tirupati on the fourth day.
Union Minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Ministers of State N. Lokesh, P. Keshav, A. Ramanarayana Reddy, Satya Kumar Yadav, G. Ravikumar, K. Parthasarathy, N.Md. Farooq, BC Janardhan Reddy and A. Satya Prasad attended the statue unveiling events during the first phase which ended on 16 December.
In the second phase, the party plans to rope in former Deputy Speaker M. Venkaiah Naidu (Vizianagaram), Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai (Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada), Union Minister Bandi Sanjay (Visakhapatnam), B. Srinivasa Varma (Bhimavaram), Agriculture Minister KKLuru and BJP National Secretary. Atchannaidu (Srikakulam).
The final session of the second phase will be a grand event in Amaravati on December 25, which also happens to be the birth anniversary of Mr. Vajpayee.
“At the event, we expect the arrival of Home Minister Amit Shah or Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari or Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who will share the dais with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan,” said yatra convener N. Ramesh Naidu.
“This yatra will pay a befitting tribute to a senior leader known for his value-based politics and good governance,” said Mr. Ramesh Naidu.
