The State Vice -President of the Planned Kast BJP Morch Ambaraya Ashtagi urged the state government to provide an immediate compensation of £ 25,000 for acre farmers whose crops were destroyed by torrential collisions in the district.
Mr Ashtagi addressed a press conference in Kalaburagag on Sunday and said that a continuous downpour in various taluks led to extensive damage to kharif crops, including pigeons, green grams, black gram, soy, Sesam and cotton.
Crops sent in nearly six six lakes were completely destroyed, so farmers remained deep in need.
He criticized agriculture, horticulture and income departments for not carrying out a joint survey and published accurate information about the scope of crop damage.
“Farmers who tried to file complaints through the free number provided within the crop insurance system found that the calls were not accepted. Farmers are forced to directly approach the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture that cause serious problems.
Mr Ashtagi stressed that a joint survey will be carried out according to the standards and compensation of the National Fund for Reaction to Disaster (NDRF) and remuneration of 25,000 GBP for acre affected by farmers without any delay.
Mr. Ashtagi called on the District Minister Priyank Kharge, who also holds the portfolios of rural development and Panchayat Raj, as well as information and biotechnology to devote some time instead of remaining biased with his plans in Bengenlur and abroad.
“Mr. Kharge is an elected representative of this district. It is his duty to become farmers in need and solve their problems with proper severity,” he said.
He also highlighted the floods in Malkhed in Sedam Taluk, where rainwater entered the Sanctum Sanctorum of the original Brindavany of Jayatirtha (Teekacharya) in Uttaradi Mathematics on the banks of Kagina.
“In Kalaburagagi cause continuous rainfall. Brindavan of Jayatirtha on the banks of the kagina is flooded. Up to 69 houses collapsed in Afzalpur Taluk while Renuka Yallamma Devi’s Temple was completely immersed. Kalaburagi, although standing crops were destroyed, ”said Mr. Ashtagi.
He raised concerns about further release of water from the tank Ujjini in the neighboring Mahari and stated that Bhima was overflowing with flooding in the surrounding areas. Effective flood management is necessary to prevent loss of life and property, he pointed out.
Mr Ashtagi further reminded the state government that last year’s loss of crops due to the disease under Borer and Vadno in pigeons has not yet been fully compensated.
“Only one crop insurance repayment has been paid, while the second installment remains waiting to be done. The excellent payment must be released first,” he demanded.
At the press conference, the leaders of BJP Ganesh Vakei, Ravi Madankar, Jai Bhim Katt and Shiva Ashtagi participated.
