The BJP urban unit organized a protest in front of the KR Hospital in Mouse 30. May and condemned the decision of the Karnataka government to close Jan Aushadhi Kendras working in state hospitals.
The government step will result in the closure of 207 such centers in Karnataka, while the permit was rejected for 31 applications after the decision of their closure. The protest was led by the president of the BJP unit L. Nagendra, who claimed that the government succumbed to pressure from the “pharmaceutical mafia”.
He said that the government’s decision was against the poor and undermined efforts to provide drugs at an affordable rate. The decision was not only politically motivated, but it was an attack on a public service that was a lighthouse of hope for the poor and middle class, said Mr. Nagendra.
BJP activists held the labels and raised the slogans against the government in which they stated that Jan Aushadhi Kendras was a blessing for patients and was a congress against the government of Modi.
The government justified its decision to declare that patients would be provided at no cost, while patients existed complaints, that they were provided with regulations for the purchase of medicinal products from outside, and were not in line with the policy of free drug distribution.
The decision only applies to Jan Aushadhi Kendras established in the premises of government hospitals and not outdoors.
On the basis of the government’s claim, it is not necessary to subsidize medicines through Jan Aushadhi Kendras, because the hospitals have already provided free medicines, BJP activists stressed that not all drugs are available in government hospitals. That is why Jan Aushadhi Kendras, who provides generic medicines at lower rates, helped the poor to save money. But with the closure of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, patients will have to get them from private pharmacists for regular rates, which will affect poor monetary money, claimed that BJP activists who wanted the government to withdraw their order Jan Aushadhi Kendras in state hospitals.
