Prime Minister Narendra Modi has exuded confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the next government in Telangana, paralleling the party’s recent landslide victory in West Bengal.
The Prime Minister began his speech in Telugu by greeting the people and gave loud cheers to the BJP workers and supporters who had gathered in a massive public rally at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Sunday.
Stating that the BJP had secured a “historic victory” in West Bengal as the people there had fulfilled their resolve to bring the party to power, the Prime Minister claimed that a similar sentiment was visible among people from far-flung parts of Telangana. “This time Telangana will have a BJP government,” Mr. Modi said.
Describing both the ruling Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as family parties, he said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government remained committed to the development of Telangana.
Targeting the Congress, Mr. Modi said, “People of Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka are suffering after the election of Congress and people of Telangana are also facing similar disappointment.” He also accused the Congress of following a policy of “seeking votes first and then forgetting the people”.
Stating that the government was making the nation and Telangana “Naxal-free”, Mr Modi said the BJP was moving forward to build “Viksit Telangana”. He also explained the development projects approved by the Center to Telangana.
The Prime Minister announced that the Center has approved the Zaheerabad Industrial Corridor and recalled that Telangana has received one of the seven PM MITRA Textile Parks approved across the country. “Kakatiya Textile Park (KMTP) will create employment opportunities. BJP has always focused on development and jobs,” he said.
Several party leaders, including State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also exuded confidence that the BJP would come to power in Telangana in the next elections.
