BJP padayatra won’t get public support, politically motivated: Yathindra Siddaramaiah

Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) padayatra, saying it had completely failed to garner popular support.

Dr. Talking to reporters in Raichur on Sunday, Yathindra alleged that the BJP was continuing its protest purely for political gain despite the resignation of B. Nagendra from the ministerial post, which was their primary demand.

He said that instead of using the legislative assembly session to address public issues like drought conditions and farmers’ grievances, BJP leaders chose to prioritize their political agendas and waste time.

Dr. Yatindra further added that the opposition has not shown any real concern or clarity on public affairs, drought or agricultural woes, focusing entirely on scoring political points during the assembly session.

The minister urged the Union government to help distressed farmers who have suffered crop losses due to prolonged dry spells. “The state will also take its own initiatives in this regard,” he added.

Recalling past incidents, Dr. Yathindra said the Union government had shown discrimination against the state’s farmers in releasing compensation. “On the previous occasion, the funds were released only after the Supreme Court intervened,” he said.
