Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday urged the cadres to intensify preparations for the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana and urged them to intensify their efforts to position the party as an alternative to the ruling Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

During his visit to Hyderabad on Sunday, Mr. Nabin addressed the pramukh sammelan stall in Nampally and also virtually inaugurated nine district offices from the Rangareddy rural party office. Addressing the sammelan, Mr. Nabin wanted the cadres to prepare for a “new struggle” based on service, sacrifice and commitment rather than power and privilege. Emphasizing the importance of organizational strength, he said the BJP’s success depends on its booth-level workers and reiterated the party’s slogan “booth jita toh chunav jitaĆ¢” (win the booth, win the election).

Greater Hyderabad and municipal elections are coming up, he said, adding that only BJP can bring real development. “We want the politics of development, not the politics of dynasty and corruption,” he said.

Mr. Nabin paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, martyrs of the Telangana Statehood movement and former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj. Aligning his vision with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ goal, he said the BJP has stood with Telangana since its inception and rejected criticism that the party was an outsider in the state. He noted that one of the two Lok Sabha members BJP elected in 1984 was from Telangana.

Mr. Nabin launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the BRS, accusing them of corruption, dynasty politics and failure to govern. He alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfill the promises made to the youth, especially in terms of employment, and accused both the Congress and the BRS of promoting vote bank politics through their association with the AIMIM.

Asserting that only a Modi-led BJP government can realize Telangana’s aspirations, he said the state would witness a political transformation similar to the rise of the BJP in West Bengal. He urged the party workers to take the BJP message to every household and mobilize support across villages and townships.

Highlighting the Centre’s social welfare initiatives, Mr. Nabin said programs like Ayushman Bharat, PM SVANidhi, housing schemes, household water connections and LPG distribution have improved the lives of millions of people. He also cited projects like the Uppal Elevated Corridor, MMTS Phase-II and Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit as evidence of the Union government’s commitment to Telangana.

BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao also addressed the gathering and dismissed opposition claims linking the BJP’s electoral gains elsewhere to voter identification measures. He accused the Congress, BRS and AIMIM of spreading misinformation and claimed that the BJP’s guiding principle remained “Nation First”. Alleging that the rival parties are relying on illegal Rohingya voters, he appealed to the people to strengthen the BJP and repeat its recent Lok Sabha performance in the upcoming municipal elections.

The Sammelan, attended by hundreds of leaders and booth-level workers, highlighted the BJP’s focus on local mobilization as it prepares for the next round of local polls in Hyderabad and across Telangana.

Earlier, Mr. Nabin was given a rousing welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad by Mr. Ramchander Rao, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, MPs DK Aruna, Eatela Rajender, Konda Vishveshwar Reddy, D. Arvind and K. Laxman and others.

Mr. Nabin later inaugurated nine new district party offices at Rangareddy Rural, Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Kamareddy, Siddipet, Medak, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool. He described them as ‘Sankalp Kendras’ and ‘Seva Kendras’ and said they would strengthen the party’s core bond.
