BJP MLA TS SRIVATSA criticized the state government’s decision to make Cauveries Aarti on the banks of Cauvera by spending 92 crore.
On Friday he spoke to reporters in Mysur and Mr. Srivatsa questioned the need for an event where the government had no funds to repair roads.
“The MLA begged for financial assistance of 1 or 2 crore from 1 or 2 ₹ Crore for development work in their constituencies. In Mysuru, funds for underground drainage (UGD) are needed,” Srivatsa said.
However, the Congress Government wanted to organize this event to show that it also works for Hindutva, ”he said.
It seemed that the amount of money proposed by the government for Cauver Aarti was not in response to the aspirations of the people, he said, stressing that farmers in the region expressed their opposition to the proposed program.
He advised the government that maintaining the clean banks of the river was to perform Aarti.
Against the proposed step of the district Mysur administration, he stood up to introduce a quick Darshan in Chamundeshwari at the top of Chamundi hills by charging 2,000 GBP.
Srivatsa claimed that the state government was trying to collect money from all possible sources, and said that the government should instead introduce steps to ensure that all devoted can have a quick Darshan. “How do you drive the queue if a large number of devoted to the quick track of Darshan appears,” he asked, describing it as an unscientific move.
Howeve, he welcomed the step to ban the publication of VIP passages for Darshan.
