After the municipal tensions caused by protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the police registered a criminal case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Balmukund Achary for accusing religious sentiments by leading the sloganeering crowd who gathered before Jama Masjid here.
Mr. Acharya, 48, accompanied by his supporters and a large number of BJP leaders and party workers, allegedly raised offensive slogans and built posters on Friday evening. The tall drama in the mosque led to anger among those who offer prayers, and a large number of people gathered to protest against the mill.
Congress of Mlas Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi and Biju police commissioner George Joseph reached the place and controlled the situation. The first information report was later registered against Mr. Acharyi for complaints filed by the Jama Masjid Committee.
Mr. Acharya and other BJP leaders marched into a mosque from “Akrosh Sabha”, which took place in Badi Chaupar to protest the killing of 26 tourists in Kashmir Pahalgam. They held saffron flags and torches and lifted the slogans, including “Jai Shri Ram” and “Pakistan Murdabad”, which created panic among those present in the mosque.
BJP MLA reportedly entered the mosque with his shoes, put a poster on the stairs, and announced that those who support terrorists who asked victims of their religion before they were killed. The company said Mr. Acharya and his supporters threatened to kill Muslims.
The companies were registered according to sections 298 (injury or improvement of worship), 300 (disturbing religious assembly), 302 (pronouncing a word with intention to injure religious feelings) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit.
Police sources said that the investigation was handed over to the CID-CRIME BRANCH branch, a node for probing cases registered against public representatives. When municipal tensions expanded in the city, Mr. Acharya issued a statement about social media and expressed regret for the incident.
Jama Masjid was deployed heavy police force to maintain right and order, and almost all markets on the market were closed. Police made a flag march on the main road of Johari Bazaar, while the contingents of the armed constabulary and the special Constables of the Constables in Rajasthan were deployed in sensitive areas of state capital.
