Congress Working Committee member and former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju on Thursday alleged that the BJP government was indulging in “witch hunt politics” in the country. An example of this was the filing of criminal proceedings against the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi.
In a telephonic interview with The Hindu, Mr. Rudra Raju said, “Mr. Gandhi demanded a case against those involved in the alleged ‘cleansing’ of Ramleel Maidan in Haldwani, Uttarakhand after AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit to the venue.”
Mr. Rudra Raju said that people from different sections of the society condemned the case filed against Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who actually condemned the practices of untouchability and caste discrimination. He
He asked the government to withdraw the case immediately, claiming that it was registered with a ‘malafide’.
