State BJP chief N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday said defamation cases worth ₹5 crore have been filed against some YouTube channels spreading fake news. He urged those who use social media to spread the duck to come to the public arena face to face.
Addressing the party’s legal and welfare cells, he warned that cases would be filed and Congress and BRS leaders sent to jail for spreading false propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders. He alleged that BRS and Congress parties are funding some people and trying to defame BJP. He urged the party’s social media campaigners to immediately counter any false propaganda they come across.
“Mainstream media and print media are acting very responsibly. Similarly, YouTube channels should follow suit,” Mr. Rao said.
