
The President of the TELANGANA PRADESH (TPCC) Mahesh Kumar Goud said that RTI, which caused the independence of information commissions, by diluting the independence of information commissions for the government pressure to dilute information.
On Sunday (12th October), when he spoke with the media on the 20th anniversary of the RTI law, he recalled that, according to the Act on the Protection of Digital Personal Data from 2023, he expanded the change to Section 8 (1) (a). (J) RTI definition of “personal data”. This allowed the authorities to deny the information previously available to the public for their interest, such as voters’ lists, the use of the government fund and details of the expenditure.
“This amendment opened the door to cover public information. RTI became a rescue rope for poor and marginalized, allowing them to access the rights related to the distribution of allocation, pensions, arrears, scholarships, but BJP is now blocking it,” he said.
Congress said, demanding the abolition of RTI changes from 2019 and the review of section 44 (3) of the DPDP Act for the protection of transparency. He called on the government to immediately occupy all vacancies in the Central and State Information Commission and set clear standards of performance and public reporting mechanisms.
He recalled that UPA has introduced several historical legislation that strengthened the basis of social justice and transparency, and together ensured that every citizen, especially the poor, had access to rights, employment and justice and praised the former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.
