The Telangana BJP demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations against Environment and Forests Minister Konda Surekha, as well as allegations leveled by her daughter against the Congress government, as the names of other ministers and close aides of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy also appeared in the episode.
Party President N. Ramchander Rao told the media here on Thursday that there were reports of OSD Minister Sumanth intimidating cement company owners. “The Congress government is mired in settlements, intimidation and corruption. Party leaders must explain their assets, benami holdings and illegal earnings,” he demanded.
Mr. Rao alleged that the ruling party has turned into a “looting” government whose rule is characterized by threats and extortion. Due to the negligence and inefficiency of the Congress government, retired employees are not getting their benefits, wages are not being paid on time, unemployment is rampant and the administration is in disarray. The previous BRS government also looted Telangana and now those who looted are fighting among themselves for the loot, he said.
The BJP leader asked the people of Telangana, especially those of Jubilee Hills, to reject such “corrupt parties and candidates wielding weapons to intimidate opponents”. Congress candidate for Jubilee Hills by-election, Naveen Yadav, has several corruption charges against him, he alleged.
He later handed over Form B to Jubilee Hills constituency candidate L. Deepak Reddy.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said in a meeting with the booth leaders and party workers of Borabanda division that the by-election will be a turning point in Telangana politics. “Both BRS and Congress have neglected the constituency in the last decade,” he said, pointing to “deteriorating civic conditions, including overflowing sewage and garbage accumulation.”
Claiming that the Congress candidate was selected in consultation with AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, he accused the three parties, including the BRS, of working together to “suppress” the BJP.
He further criticized the Congress for “failing to fulfill” its promises.
