BJP accuses Congress of undermining democratic institutions
Telangana BJP leaders have accused the Congress party of trying to topple the democratically elected government by allying with forces hostile to the country and advised the party to engage in political battles to expose government failures and not undermine constitutional institutions.
At separate press conferences on Friday, party president N. Ramchander Rao and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy alleged that Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi was waging a smear campaign against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and maligning the country.
Mr. Ramchander Rao said the Congress must be held accountable for toying with forces conspiring for “regime change” by creating anarchy and violence like in Bangladesh. Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the “Urban Naxals” and the “Tukde-Tukde Gang” are working with a “calculated strategy to weaken the democratic systems” trusted by the people, including the judiciary – with the “sole aim of grabbing power through illegal means”.
Mr. Kishan Reddy said Mr. Gandhi’s behavior was “highly irresponsible” and he was using scare tactics against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. “Is the Election Commissioner responsible if people don’t vote for you?” he asked.
The Congress party is misrepresenting the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process as if it is an “anti-democratic mechanism” newly introduced by the BJP. He warned that certain factions — including the deep state, the media, foreign powers and domestic subversives — had joined forces to orchestrate a grand conspiracy. BJP leaders also expressed outrage over the march to the Supreme Court to “blackmail judges”.
