Keral’s government revised the menu in Anganwadis – Institutions of Child Care in the State – and included EGG Biryani. The announcement of the revised menu came a month after the video of a three -year -old boy asking for Biryani and Chicken Fry instead of UPMA on his Anganwadi became viral on social media.
The new menu – announced on Tuesday – includes dishes like Pulav, Dal Payasam, Soya Dry Curry and Nutri Laddus, except Egry Biryani. Health of Health Keraly Veen George, who revealed a revised menu for children Anganwadi, said it was the first time a unified offer for state care centers.
A viral video representing Shanka
In the video viral in January 2025, Trijal with Sundhar (3) was seen to tell his mother: “I want Biryani and Chicken Fry near Anganwadi instead of upmy.” His mother noticed a video when Shanka, when the trijal was kindly known, filed a request while he fed Biryani at home on January 26.
The mother then published a video on Instagram, after which it was widely shared in the coming weeks. Netizens supported the child’s request and some indicated that better foods should be provided to children in Anganwadis, although it means to reduce food served in prison.
The video attracted the eye of Veena George. And now, thanks to this simple application, the state has redesigned the menu in centers of children’s care across Kerava and offered children a wider range of “tasty and nutritious meals”.
The new menu offers tastier, more diverse and more nutritious meals aimed at improving the health of children by reducing sugar and salt intake and increasing protein -rich content, George has been quoted in the PTI report.
What is in the new menu?
George, who also serves as a Minister for Women and Children, announced changes at the Praveshanotsavam State State level (the ceremony) of Anganwadis, which took place on Tuesday. The revised menu includes additional nutrition – including breakfast, lunch and general feeding.
Children will also receive traditional refreshments such as Kozhukatta and Ilayada, along with the possibility of nutrients, such as wheat crumbs Pulav, Raita and Nickno Curry on specific days. Milk and eggs previously provided twice a week are now served three times a week, she added.
Thanks to this simple request, the state has redesigned the menu in centers of care for children throughout Kerala.
The new offer also includes details of folders and nutritional values for each meal, the statement said.
