The meeting began suddenly by resigning Vice -President Jagdeep Dhankhar 21.
Throughout the whole meeting, the opposition protested and demanded a discussion of a special intensive revision of election roles and alleged “theft of voting” in Lok Sabha and recent elections to the assembly. The demand for the proposal of adjournment in this matter was rejected, which led to disruption of both houses.
The upper house operated only 41 hours and 15 minutes, while Lok Sabha could only work this session for 37 hours. In their final remarks, Mr. Birla and Mr. Harivanka criticized members of the opposition for their behavior. “Despite the best efforts to facilitate meaningful and disruption without disturbing the discussion of this business, this meeting was unfortunately disturbed by repeated disruptions, which led to frequent adjourning. This led not only to a loss of rare parliamentary time, but also deprived us of the opportunity to deal with several issues,”
The vice -chairman said the productivity of the monsoon meeting was 38.88%, which requires serious introspection. “Members had the opportunity to raise 285 questions, 285 zero clocks and 285 special references. However, only 14 questions, seven zero hours and 61 special references,” he said, adding that while these contributions are value, only a fraction of what the house is able to achieve its full potential.
During the Rajya Sabha session, up to 15 government accounts went through or returned. Lok Sabha saw the performance of 14 accounts, 12 of which were handed over. Both houses discussed the operation of Sindoor and Lok Sabha on the success of the Indian space program.
Mr. Birla said that the members at the beginning of the meeting decided that the house would have 120 hours of discussion and dialogue. “The Commercial Advisory Committee also agreed. But due to continuous blockage and planned disturbance, we could hardly work in this session for 37 hours,” he said in his valedictory address. In this session, 419 questions with stars were included in the meeting program, but only 55 questions could be turned for oral answers due to disruption.
Mr. Birla said that “as public representatives the whole country follow our behavior and functioning”. “The public has great expectations from us that we have serious and meaningful discussions about their problems and issues of wider public interest, important accounts, in accordance with the decorum of parliament,” he said.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to cooperate in building healthy traditions in the house. In this dignified house, we should avoid sloganeering and disruption and pass on serious and meaningful discussions. As members of parliament, we should be an example before the country and the world through our work and behavior.
“Agreement and disagreements are a natural process of democracy, but our collective efforts should be that the house runs with dignity, decor and decency. We have to think about the message we send to citizens through the highest democratic institution in the country.
