Minister of Higher Education, R. Binda, described the controversy on the expansion of PhD registration of the CPI leader (m) of the wife of M. Swwaje, a deliberate disinformation campaign focused on discrediting the university education system in the state.
Dr. Binda, who responded to the allegation balanced at the University of Kannura by the Save University campaign, said that such accusations were part of a politically motivated attack. Pointing out that the extension was not an isolated case, she added that universities all over the state were constantly providing opportunities for students by expanding PhD registration and other academic concessions in the past.
The Minister quoted the precedents and said universities such as Kerala University allowed the PHD registration to be restored for researchers by choosing a fine. She also claimed that the campaign was a tactic of abuse powered by concerns about the Democratic Front (UDF) on the Nilamburk Byeection, where Mr. Swaraj is a candidate for the left democratic front (LDF).
