
The legendary software pioneer Bill Atkinson died on Thursday at the age of 74 at his home at Portola Valley, California in the San Francisco Bay area. In the Facebook post, his family said that the cause of his death was pancreatic cancer, New York Times reported.

Bill Atkinson was an Apple Computer designer who programmed Quickdraw, a basic software layer used for Lisa and Macintosh.
Quickdraw programs were built into computers hardware. It provided a distinctive graphical user interface that was a simulated “desktop computer” showing the folder, files and application programs icons, The New York Times reported.
