Indian decision to suspend an Indus waters contract is an attack on the Indus Valley civilization and culture, said former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
At the ceremony on the final day of the annual three -day festival at the Sindhi Saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai on Monday (August 11, 2025), Mr. Bilawal also said that Pakistan always defends peace, but if India forces her to war.
“If a war is waged, then the land of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai will send a Modi to the government that we will not retreat, we will not blend, and if you dare to start an attack on the Indus river, then people from each Pakistan province will be ready,” he said.
The day after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam 22. April, India took a number of repressive measures against Pakistan, which included the introduction of Indus Waters from 1960 to “Abeyance”.
Mr. Bilawal, who is also the chairman of the Pakistani Party Peoples Party (PPP), said that the Indus River is not just the main water source of the country, but is also deeply associated with the whole history of its people. “Indus civilization is associated with this river,” he said, adding that the attack on the Indus River is “Attack on our civilization, our history and our culture,” he said.
Mr. Bilawal spoke of his efforts to present the attitude of Pakistan before the world and said that the Pakistani voice was raised around the world against threats to reduce water supply to 200 million people.
Mr. Bilawal, who addressed the public, said that people from Pakistan have sufficient strength to get the enemy and take six rivers back.
