
Main Minister Bihar Nitish Kumar announced on Tuesday that interest -free loans will be provided to students within the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme.
Previously, up to 4 Lakh loans were provided at an interest rate of 4% of men and 1% of women, otherwise and transgender applicants who passed class 12.
Mr. Kumar shared information about the social media platform “X” and said, “I am very pleased that I can inform you that now the education loan provided within the student credit card scheme will be for all applicants without interest for all applicants by a maximum of 84 months (7 years).
He also said: “For loans over 2 ₹ Lakh, the repayment period was extended from 84 monthly installments (7 years) to a maximum of 120 monthly installments (10 years). Our goal is to ensure that so many students in the state can strive for higher education.”
Mr. Kumar added that this step will strengthen the morale of students and allow them to devote themselves to higher education with greater enthusiasm and determination, thus shaping not only their future but also the future of the state and the country.
During the conference of the NDA staff in the Sheikhpura seat, Janata Dal (United) described the state President Umesh Singh Kushwah this announcement as a historical step.
He said that this initiative will not only provide students with university opportunities from economically weaker families, but also seizes the educational sector in Bihar and takes the overall development of the state to new heights.
