Apart from the three pilgrims who were killed on the spot in a collision between a bus and a truck on NH-2 near Aurangabad in Bihar on Monday, another critically injured passenger died in the wee hours of Wednesday. The bodies of the three deceased reached their home towns in SPSR Nellore district on Tuesday evening and were handed over to their families. The remaining injured victims were taken by bus from Aurangabad.

“The state government has taken special arrangements to airlift the remains of the three pilgrims from Aurangabad to Patna and from there to Hyderabad via Indigo flight 6E-619 and then to Chennai via Indigo flight 6E-6174,” Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said. He informed that the bodies reached Chennai airport by 10.05 pm on Tuesday evening and were taken to Nellore by bus.

Meanwhile, a 60-seater sleeper bus carrying 29 passengers from Bihar has now reached Bhubaneswar and is continuing its journey towards Nellore. The minister stated that the district administration is ready to provide the families of the deceased with the necessary help and support.

He said the government is also continuously monitoring the provision of medical care to the injured pilgrims and the provision of transport to bring them back to their native places. He said officials at the AP Bhavan in New Delhi are coordinating with the Bihar government, local district administration, medical authorities and the families of the victims.

However, one critically injured person, Lakshmamma, 65, of Sangam in Nellore district, died at Patna Medical College Hospital at 2 am on Wednesday.
