Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (Oct 29, 2025) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of running the Bihar government “through remote control” using Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s face.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha made the remark in Muzaffarpur district where he was addressing his first election rally in the state.
“I agree with Tejashwi Yadav, who spoke just before me, that the government in Bihar is being run by remote control. They are simply using Nitish Kumar’s face,” Mr Gandhi said.
The former Congress president also slammed the ruling BJP at the Center for being “against social justice” and pointed out that the Narendra Modi government had agreed to the caste census on the opposition party’s insistence.
Mr. Gandhi asserted, “Two Indias are emerging. One belongs to the common people and the other to five or 10 billionaires. That is why places like Bihar suffer from poverty and its huge potential remains untapped.”
“You all must have seen the drama that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to show by announcing that he would take a dip in the Yamuna on the occasion of Chhath Puja. When it was revealed that it was a body of water created using piped water, Modi winced,” the Congress chief said.
“Modi brags about making cheap data available to people. It hides the fact that a monopoly of one trading house has been allowed in the telecom sector. It has been silent about the devastation caused by demonetisation to the economy,” he alleged.
The Congress leader, who had conducted the Adhikar Yatra in Bihar a few months ago, also claimed that they have “stolen the polls in Maharashtra and Haryana. They will try to do the same in Bihar”.
He claimed that if the INDIA bloc forms a new government, it will ensure that the interests of all sections of society, across caste and religious lines, are taken care of.
“Stealing votes is an attack on the constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar. We are determined to protect the constitution,” Mr Gandhi said.
Mr Gandhi also spoke of Bihar’s glorious ancient past, mentioning Nalanda University and adding: “Your potential is still evident. People from the state are doing well in Dubai, Mauritius, Seychelles and America.”
“Your potential needs to be tapped. The modern Nalanda University was the brainchild of the previous Congress-led government at the Centre. I foresee a future where Americans will come to Bihar for higher education,” he said.
“Also you are able to understand political intricacies within seconds. I would request you not to get influenced by Narendra Modi drama. He would be ready to dance on stage if he felt it would fetch you votes,” he asserted.
