
To curb the use of money power in the Bihar Assembly elections, law enforcement agencies on Wednesday seized a total of ₹1,284 crore worth of liquor, cash, narcotics and other valuables, taking the total seized items to ₹37.14 crore, the state election officer said.
The agencies on Wednesday seized liquor worth ₹78.7 crore, narcotics worth ₹25 crore, precious metals worth ₹20 crore, along with other gifts worth ₹15 crore and ₹10 crore in cash.
According to a press release, after the model code of conduct came into effect, enforcement agencies seized cash worth ₹2.15 crore, along with liquor worth ₹16.11 crore, narcotics worth ₹6.696 crore, precious metals worth ₹4.94 crore, ₹3.7 crore and other items worth ₹2.7 crore
Along with cash and valuables, a total of 221 illegal weapons were seized in the state in the run-up to the upcoming legislative elections.
