The Election Commission on Saturday (November 1, 2025) ordered the transfer of the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) and disciplinary action and transfer of three other local government officials following political violence in Mokama.
On October 30, a supporter of Jan Suraaj, Dular Chand Yadav, was killed in a firing between the two parties during campaigning for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in Mokama, leading to tension in the area.
In a notice to the Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar, the ECI ordered the transfer of three officers namely Chandan Kumar, Sub Divisional Officer (Barh), Rakesh Kumar SDPO (Barh 1) and Abhishek Singh SDPO (Barh 2).
The commission also ordered disciplinary action against the three officers and suspension of Abhishek Singh.
He further directed that Vikram Sihag, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Patna may also be transferred. “Therefore, a panel of officers may be dispatched expeditiously to depute a substitute in his place,” the surveying body said in a notification.
The ECI has also asked for a compliance report on the matter by 12 noon on Sunday.
Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Bihar in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The results will be announced on November 14.
