Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma directed the authorities to impose a fine of ₹2.5 lakh each and register a criminal case against two alleged fake doctors who continued to practice medicine in Kamalnagar despite being fined and warned against it earlier.
The action was ordered at a meeting of the District Registration and Grievance Redressal Authority under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPME) held at the office of the District Health and Family Office in Bidar.
Two individuals, Gautam Samadar and Sujalkumar Sen, originally from Kolkata, were earlier fined ₹25,000 and warned against continuing medical practice in Kamalnagar. As they were found to have resumed the practice, the Deputy Commissioner ordered increased fines and criminal proceedings against them.
In the meeting, action was also taken against several others allegedly practicing medicine in violation of the prescribed rules.
Harish Vishwakarma, who holds an Ayurvedic degree but was found practicing allopathy at Pragati Clinic in Kamathana village, was fined ₹50,000 and warned against continuing his allopathic practice as it was found to be in violation of the KPME Act.
Three other individuals – Rajshekhar of Balaji Clinic in Jambagi village of Aurad taluk, Subhashdas of Anandur village in Bidar taluk and Vishwajit of Biri-K village in Bhalki taluk – were fined ₹50,000 each for allegedly practicing medicine without a recognized medical qualification. They were also warned against continuing the practice.
The meeting also took up the case of Premkumar of Chandori village in Kamalnagar taluk, who was working as a government nurse at Mudhol Primary Health Center (B). He allegedly ran a private clinic without a license. After the raid, he was suspended from government service on 31 January 2026 by the Director of Health and Family Services, Bengaluru.
Despite the suspension, Mr. Premkumar reportedly continued to practice at the private clinic. A second raid was carried out on October 5 and the clinic was closed. The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Medical Officer and the Welfare Officer to recommend to the Director that Premkumar be denied the subsistence allowance.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Gitte Madhav Vitthal Rao, Bidar Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Jain, District Health and Family Officer Anilkumar Chintamani, District Nodal Officer KPME and Program Implementation Officers from the Health Department attended the meeting.
