Terrorists launched an indiscriminate fire in a group of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s district Pahalgam, killed 26 and injured several others. They allocated men, asked them to recite “Kalima”, and shot dead those who couldn’t.
Asked by his religion, Bharath simply said, “Hindu”. He was shot in the head. “When he said he was named Bharath Bhushan and that he was Hindu, he shot him,” said Toi Chennaverappa, Bharath’s mourning father.
Family tells Bharat’s Call Hours before tragedy
Hours before the terrorists hit the picturesque meadows Baisaran, also known as the “mini-Switzersko” India, Bharath called home and enthusiastically spoke of his holiday.

“He showed us beautiful opinions on the video call,” his father Toi said. According to the report, Chennavearappa learned of the death of his son while reading the newspaper Kannada. “My legs retreated. I didn’t know what to do. My family kept the secret to me and my wife,” he said.
When a news of horror of Pahalgam appeared on television and social media, the family was not sure of their son, sister -in -law and grandson. Bharath’s older brother Preetham tried to connect with him and his family, but the lack of connectivity delayed the news. The family finally received a confirmation of Bharath’s death at 2 am on Tuesday evening, the report added.
“My daughter saw her husband was shot”
Sujath’s mother, his mother, was, resident Mattikere in Bengalur, said her daughter, who was a pediatrician, told her that the shooting had occurred in front of her.
“My daughter called me. She said she was safe in the army camp and went to the hospital to claim her husband’s body as soon as her brother reached Pahalgam.

She added that as soon as she realized that her husband was dead, she raised her identification cards and fled the scene with her son.
Bharath’s last ceremonies that will take place with state awards
The last ceremonies of two Karnataka tourists who were shot by terrorists in Kashmir Pahalgam will be made with police awards, the government said.
Manjunath Rao and Bharath Bushan were among the 26 people killed in front of their families. Most of those terrorists killed were tourists.

“Main Minister Siddarahaiah ordered officials to take the necessary steps to ensure that the last ceremonies of Manjunath Rao and Bharath Bhushan, who were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, are carried out with police awards.”
The bodies of two tourists were brought to the International KEVEGOWDA Airports during the first hours on Thursday.
While Ra’s body was transported to his hometown by Shivamogg, Bushan’s body was brought to his residence in Bengalur. Their last ceremonies are likely to take place later during the day, PTI said.
