
Bharat Bandh 9 July: Public services such as banking, coal mining, highway and construction, insurance and mail will be affected today, because more than 25 CRORE employees will join Bharat Bandh.
Bharat Bandh 9 July was called to protest against new government working codes and privatization and, among other things, demand minimum wage £26 000 and restore the old pension system.
According to the PTI report, the nationwide general strike was called by the 10 Central Trade Union Forum, which called on “the national general to hit great success”.
Amarjet Kaur from the whole Indian trade union congress said in an interview with PTI: “It is expected that more than 25 crore workers will be attended on the strike. Farmers and rural workers will also join the protest throughout the country.”
Another PTI report said that the members of the left sides entered the Jadavpur railway station in West Bengal to block the tracks, and also pull out the march in the city.
Furthermore, heavy police forces were deployed near the Jadavpur 8B bus booth and bus drivers were seen to wear helmets for protection because the private operator kept the services open, he added.
Banks closed today? Here’s what will be affected
According to Harbhajan Singh Sidh of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, public services such as banking, postal, coal mining, factories and state transport services will be influenced by strike.
In particular, while the workers associated with the participating unions will be on strike, banks did not announce or announce the official holiday. Banks are likely to remain open with limited or less employees, which can cause delay and affect services but may not be closed.
