Bhadragiri Mart, a women-run tribal enterprise, wins state-level awards

Bhadragiri Mart, an enterprise managed by local tribal women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in Bhadrachalam, won the award for the best innovative tourism project/products at the state level.

Within six months of its inception, Bhadragiri Mart won a state-level award highlighting the entrepreneurial efforts of tribal women SHGs with the support of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam.

The grocery store has gained a reputation among devotees and tourists visiting the historic temple town for its range of healthy and natural products known for their nutritional value and authentic taste.

ITDA Project Director B. Rahul received the award from Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramark at a World Tourism Day function in Hyderabad on Saturday, according to ITDA sources.

ITDA’s initiative to support the collective efforts of tribal women’s SHGs for financial independence and sustainable livelihoods was felicitated at the event.

Organizers of Bhadragiri Mart said nutritious millet crackers are among its signature products. Other offerings include wild forest honey, iron-rich mahua laddus and cold-pressed wood oils.
