The fifth edition of the Beypore International Water Festival will be held at six venues in and around Beypore in the Kozhikode region from December 26 to 28. The festivities will include water adventures, beach sports, water sports, a kite festival, an exhibition of ships and their technology by the navy and other cultural activities.
A cycle rally will be held from Kozhikode to Beypore on December 25, heralding the start of the festival, while a marathon from Chaliyam to Beypore will be held on December 28.
Competitors from five countries are expected to participate in the kite festival, one of the main attractions of the festival. Kabaddi, Beach Football and Beach Volleyball competitions will be held on December 22, 23 and 24. A chess competition, a demonstration of kalaripayattu, karate and other martial arts will also be held before the festival.
The art festivals for residents’ associations and Kudumbasree groups will include competitions in film dance, ‘ganamele’, comedy skits, nostalgic dance, Oppana, Thiruvathirakkali, Kolkali and folk music. Cultural programs by winners of various art festivals, differently abled students, music schools and senior citizen clubs, local theater plays and magic show will also be held at places like Chaliyam, Nallur, Ramanattukara, Feroke V. Park, Nallalam V. Park and Abdurahman Park in Nallalam.
Adventure sports events such as kayaking, sailing, dragon boat racing, surfing, stand-up paddling, jet skiing, flyboarding, boat racing and country boat racing will be held in Beypore from December 26 to 28.
