Beware of fraudsters who claim to secure medical seats, warns the Karnataka Examinations Authority

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has clarified that all seats in Government, Management, NRI, Dental, Medical and AYUSH courses in Karnataka will be allotted only through KEA counseling process.

KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna urged students and parents not to believe the fraudulent claims of individuals who promised to secure medical posts outside the official process.

He said KEA had received complaints about people claiming they could provide management and NRI quotas. While private medical colleges have the power to fix the management fees and NRI quotas, they do not have the power to allocate them. Allotment of seats including management and NRI seats will be done exclusively through KEA. Anyone who claims otherwise is trying to mislead and cheat the candidates, he said.

Mr. Prasanna explained that 15% of seats in government medical colleges are allocated through the National Medical Commission (NMC) at the national level, while the remaining 85% are allocated through the KEA. He added that 100% seats in private medical colleges and private universities in Karnataka are also allotted through KEA.

He reiterated that the allotment of medical seats will be strictly based on the NEET ranks of the candidates obtained in the examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Once KEA receives the official NEET data, it will release a link that will enable candidates to link their NEET number with their CET application. After integration of NEET category candidates have to download their verification slip.

The state medical counseling process will only start after the NMC announces the national counseling plan. Until then, students and parents are advised to refer to the previous years seat allotment data available on the KEA portal to assess their admission prospects based on NEET rank.

After receiving the NEET data, KEA will publish the state merit list of Karnataka domiciled candidates in ascending order. Applicants who have not yet applied for medical courses will be given another opportunity to apply and their documents will also be verified as per the schedule to be announced soon.

Regarding pharmacy courses, Mr. Prasanna said the seat matrix has not been taken yet. Once available, candidates will be allowed to enter their options before the second round of seat allocation. He also advised students seeking admission in medical and pharmacy courses to choose Choice-2 if they are allotted a seat in the first round but want to take part in other rounds for a better college or course.
