The English CEO of the men’s cricket Rob Key does not feel that Jacob Bethell and Oilie Pope’s career will be defined for the Headingley test against India, starting from June 20. Bethell and the Pope are in a direct battle for place 3 for the first test. The Pope recently scored 171 in a one -time Test against ZimbabweWhile Bethell impressed all of the 1950s during the New Zealand tour.
However, the key does not see competition as a problem for team management in England and feels that this is a mutually advantageous situation for the team. The CEO of England feels that it would be a problem if they had no good opportunities to fill in the slot.
“I really don’t see it as a problem,” said Key The Telegraph’s Cricket Podcast. “You really win two -way. You have two brilliant players who can do this role.
“The hard decision is when you have no options, and you just have to try to find something from nowhere. I am scratching the head. This is:” Which really good player will we choose? “It’s a good position.”
“Tracking Bethell’s development was extraordinary”
Key said he also had no regrets about Bethell remains in India to play in iPLInstead of playing a one -time test against Zimbabwe. Key feels that England has rewarded Bethell’s rewards in India in the future.
“I do not think (that) careers of Ollie Pope and Jacob Bethell are defined by what will happen this week or whether he returned to play the Zimbabwe test. Maybe this test match did not play,” Key said. “Watching his development was extraordinary, and he went there and played in IPL, I think he was great for him. We’ll return to it in the future.”
