This year, with only 22,000 intelligent meters installed by electricity consumers, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has so far recorded almost ten times new links. While on average, approximately 4 lakh new connections are provided by an energy tool, the process has hit the process over the last six months.
According to sources in Bescom, intelligent meters were used by the consumer to order the Supreme Court, which ordered the occupancy certificate (OC) to use other tools such as power and water connection.
“There are thousands of applications for new electricity connections waiting for BESCOM, for which the OC has yet to come. Therefore, progress in intelligent meter installations was also very slow. Of the 22,000 meters that were installed, approximately 15,000 in Bengalur and the remaining 7,000 in other regions.”
The Electricity Regulation Commission in Karnataka (KERC) has ordered intelligent meters in the State for temporary and new electricity combinations. Intelligent meters that provide a two -way communication system between the energy tool and the consumer also provide information on burden, consumption, etc., and usually work on prepaid mode. At the beginning of March, higher energy department officials said that approximately 2% (3 lakh) consumers in the Bescom region were estimated to obtain intelligent meters.
However, in view of current progress, it may be years than many consumers can install intelligent meters in their buildings.
Those who have already installed these meters in their buildings say that even if they are happy from the transparency that the meters offer, they are waiting for mobile applications. “During the construction of my house construction, the intelligent meter was really useful because it showed my balance and I could be responsible for Jalahali.
Meanwhile, the resident social care association all over the city said that the new OC for connecting with utility connections brought much -needed reform among the owners, especially if illegal commercialization is increasing. “Since this clause was included, we have noticed that the number of people who violate the rules have been declined. They are more hard now,” Sneha Nandihal said.
