To ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply to its consumers, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has developed a Distribution Transformer Life Cycle Management System (DTLMS) mobile application.
According to the release, the app will help monitor and systematically carry out preventive maintenance of more than five lakh distribution transformers in eight districts under Bescom’s jurisdiction.
Through the application, officials can continuously monitor the operation, preventive maintenance, repairs and efficiency of distribution transformers. Field workers can enter all transformer maintenance details directly into the app.
“A Distribution Transformer Center maintenance module has been developed under DTLMS. This module is expected to play a key role in improving the efficiency, reliability and continuity of the power distribution system. Using this module, Bescom field officers will carry out quarterly maintenance of all transformers in their areas. This will help prevent power leakage, reduce losses and ensure quality power to consumers,” the report said.
Field workers are required to upload photos before and after transformer maintenance in the app. This ensures proper documentation of maintenance activities and also helps keep transformer premises clean and safe.
“DTLMS enables digital tracking of quarterly maintenance, fault reporting, repair details, condition monitoring and history-based analysis. It also helps in faster decision-making at field level, reduces fault rectification time and optimizes resource utilization,” said N. Shivashankara, Executive Director, Bescom.
“Monitoring preventive maintenance of distribution transformers through the app will help us achieve our goal of providing uninterrupted and quality power to consumers and regular maintenance will also increase the lifespan of transformers,” said Power Minister KJ George.
