Bengaluru: Two policemen suspended over video showing them withdrawing cash

The Eastern Division police have suspended two policemen who were allegedly caught on video accepting money from a shopkeeper in a narrow lane in KG Hall earlier this week.

The incident came to light after a passerby noticed two policemen, who were in uniform and traveling on a motorcycle, allegedly accepting money from a person believed to be a businessman. The person who recorded the video questioned the police about the transaction and sought an explanation from them.

The startled police officers reportedly left the scene without reacting. After the video came to light, an inquiry was ordered by DCP East Division. The DCP approached X on Thursday and revealed that the officers have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been launched.
