Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 539 cases of drunken driving and speeding during the five-day special enforcement drive that was conducted across the city from October 19 to 23.

The drive was carried out by traffic police officers from all 53 traffic police offices with the aim of reducing traffic offenses and increasing road safety.

According to a press release issued on Monday (October 26), police checked 24,243 vehicles during the drive and registered 369 cases against motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

In a separate crackdown on speeding, the police registered 170 cases and collected fines of ₹1.72 crore.

The purpose of the special drive was to discourage motorists from driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the speed limit, thus reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
