The High Court in Karnataka on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) reserved its command on petitions filed by four representatives of Royal Challengers Sports PVT. Ltd. (RCSPL) and DNA Networks pvt. Ltd., which challenged the legality of its arrest in connection with StamPed 4. June outside the stadium M. Chinnaswamy in the city during the celebration of the victory of the RCB in Turnia IPL-2025.
Justice Sr Krishna Kumar, who heard the petition arguments, said he would say a sentence on Thursday afternoon.
The petitions were filed by Nikhil Sosale, Head (Marketing and Revenue), RCSPL; Sunil Mathew, Director and Kiran Kumar, DNA event manager; and Shamant NP Mavinakere, an independent worker with DNA.
Previously, state lawyer Shashi Kiran Shetty and other BN Jagadeesha prosecutor prevented their arrest and claimed that the police had followed all the procedures laid down by law and the peak while arresting them.
“No permission”
Mr Shetty said that these four people were associated with RCSPL and DNA, who were responsible for publishing contributions on social media who called on cricket fans to come to the victory celebrations, even though there was no permission to organize the stadium event.
AG also said that neither Karnataka State Cricket Association nor RCSPL had requested permission according to the provisions of the Bangalore City, announced in 2009, announced in 2009.
Communication sent by KSCA or others was a mere inscription of possible celebrations of victory and no formal requests, Ag said, claiming that in any case the police did not provide permission to win at the stadium and was therefore illegal and punishable.
The organization of illegal events led to the death of 11 people in Stampede, because RSCPL could not manage the crowd, Mr. Shetty said.

While AG said on the court’s question whether Minister Siddaramaiah stated at the media conference that he had ordered the arrest of RCB officials and others, the written statement filed by the police said that the petitioners’ claim that their arrest had been done only on the ranking of the Chief Minister.
The petitioners’ claim that the representative of the Chief Minister DK Shivakumar attended the celebrations at the stadium, AG said it was only invited and it was a RCSPL that organized the event without permission.
