The commuters using the Namma Metro will soon be able to book tickets using various mobility applications, because the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to increase passengers’ comfort with an open network for digital trade.
This means that commuting subway will be able to book tickets to applications such as Tummoc, Rapido and several other platforms. According to officials, the aim of this initiative is to simplify commuting by creating a smooth experience from the all-in-one tourism.
End-to-end reservation
“This new partnership will make it easier to commute to plan their entire journey from the Auto-Rike or Cab for the purchase of BMTC bus passage and a single aggregator.
The official also explained: “We want to make sure that commuting has a truly unified experience. Through the Ondc platform, which has more than ten mobility applications, it allows people to plan and pay for all their feet.
The official also noted that this digital transformation will help improve availability, shorten waiting times and support greater use of public transport options.
Other integration
BMRCL has already worked with the provider of private technological solutions to integrate their ticket services into these applications. Meanwhile, other partnerships for ticket recharges and recharging smart cards are also made available to travel by subway. For example, WhatsApp has been offered by a metro based on QR code since November 2022. However, this service does not cover the first and last miles, such as auto-ricker and buses.
BMRCL also cooperates with Paytm for tickets based on QR-Kode and Amazon Pay for accessories with intelligent cards, except for its own Namma Metro for direct recharging.
Timely implementation
Communications are looking forward to the initiative. “This new reservation option can be a game changer for me if it is properly implemented,” said Rahul Sharma, a regular commuting metro from JALAHALLI.
“The ability to plan your whole trip from my bus ride to my bus pass and the metro ticket all in one application will save me a lot of time and trouble every day. But I really hope BMRCL will ensure that it will be soon.
