Bengaluru: Six booked for obstructing ambulance
The Yeshwantpur traffic police arrested six persons, all minors, for allegedly obstructing the free passage of an ambulance by performing dangerous stunts and driving recklessly on a busy road.
According to a complaint filed by Bheemappa Jattennavar, a traffic police officer, the incident took place near MEI junction in Yeshwantpur on July 4 around 2.30 am.
The accused allegedly performed cartwheels and other dangerous manoeuvres, disrupted traffic and prevented an ambulance carrying a seriously ill patient from going to the hospital for prompt medical attention.
Based on the complaint filed by the ambulance driver, the Yeshwantpur traffic police intervened. Using CCTV footage, police tracked down one of the accused, a 17-year-old youth, who was driving the sawmill and filming the video.
Based on his information, the police arrested five others and seized the bikes. The accused work in a garage, a cafe and a fish market. One of them is a student. Police have summoned the owner of the bikes for questioning and further legal action, with the accused referred to the Juvenile Justice Board.
