Commercial Street police arrested a 25-year-old man on Tuesday for harassing and abusing a car driver allegedly over a road incident.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused Syed Sameer, a resident of Yarab Nagar in Banashankari. Sameer worked as a daily wage labourer, police said.
According to police, at around 1:30 pm on January 26, at Halasuru Road Cross, Sameer, who was riding a scooter, jumped a signal and drove close to a car driven by 43-year-old Praveen MN of Halasuru.
When Praveen advised him to drive carefully, Sameer replied, “My vehicle, my road, I will drive as I please,” he reportedly said.
When Praveen told him to repeat the same in front of the police, Sameer allegedly said, “Who the police? Why should I come? Who are you to ask?”
When Praveen moved out, Sameer allegedly followed him and parked his car near Manipal Center and started abusing and assaulting him.
A video of the mugging captured by Praveen has gone viral on social media. Police then arrested Sameer, who apologized for his actions in a video released later.
