Bengaluru City Police Traffic Warden Organization (BCP-TWO) has launched its official website to encourage greater public participation in traffic management and road safety initiatives.

The organization works in voluntary association with the Bengaluru Traffic Police and functions under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City.

Founded in 1985 by the then Commissioner of Police PG Harlankar and the then Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operation) Ajay Kumar Singh, Traffic Warden has served as a unique partnership between the citizens and the police for over four decades.

Currently, the organization includes around 730 volunteer traffic wardens from various professional backgrounds, including doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, company managers and other professionals. Volunteers assist the Bengaluru Traffic Police in day-to-day traffic regulation, VVIP movements, major public events, marathons, festivals and other special traffic control duties.

In addition to traffic regulation, rangers actively participate in road safety awareness programmes, traffic education, road engineering initiatives and regular training.

The newly launched website serves as a comprehensive digital platform showcasing the organization’s history, achievements, organizational structure and contributions of traffic wardens over the past 40 years. The portal also allows Bengaluru residents to learn about the organization’s activities and apply online to become traffic wardens.

Appreciating the contribution of traffic wardens in easing congestion in Bengaluru, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the traffic wardens organisation, led by former Inspector General of Police and Senior Traffic Constable PH Rana, is providing valuable assistance to the traffic police. “We hope this initiative will encourage more citizens to volunteer to join the organization,” he said.
