Bengaluru police booked 649 drunk drivers, 143 for speeding

The Bengaluru Traffic Police conducted a special drive against drunken driving and speeding from June 8 to June 14 as part of efforts to improve road safety and curb traffic violations across the city.
The enforcement drive was conducted by personnel from all 53 traffic police stations in Bengaluru. During the event, traffic police officers checked 42,108 vehicles of various categories to identify motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of the raid, the police registered 649 cases of driving while intoxicated against offenders.
In a parallel drive, the police booked 143 motorists for violating speed limits and collected fines of ₹1.44 million.
According to traffic police officials, the special drive was launched to deal with the dangers posed by drunken driving and speeding, which continue to be major causes of road accidents and deaths.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police said that similar enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure greater compliance with traffic rules and improve safety for all road users.
