Bengaluru Metro Javagal Srinath’s picture goes viral, fans praise Ex-IND star’s simplicity

Former Indian fast bowler, ICC match referee and Karnataka cricket icon Javagal Srinath has once again won the hearts of fans on social media with his simplicity. Known for his fiery pace during the 1990s, Srinath has always been equally admired for his humble persona off the cricket field.

A recent photo of him traveling as a common commuter in the Bengaluru Metro, standing with a bag on a cart, went viral and garnered widespread appreciation from fans. Despite Srinath being a household name, his lack of arrogance and his willingness to use public transport further added to the pride his fans felt for him.

Most fans were quick to react to the image and even posted their own anecdotes. Some said they always see Srinath in Bengaluru living his life without the status of a former Indian cricketer attached to his name.

Some even commented that it was something common among Karnataka cricketers and pointed out how Rahul Dravid and Venkatesh Prasad display simplicity when they are in public.

This is not the first time that Srinath’s simplicity is exemplified caught people’s attention. Earlier, a fan of his had shared a photograph of him on LinkedIn in which Srinath was waiting for a train at Mysuru railway station with a bag on his back. His ability to live like an ordinary citizen without any fuss and fanfare has earned him widespread praise on social media.

India Today was unable to verify when the picture was actually taken. Srinath led the Indian pace attack during his illustrious career, playing 67 Tests and 229 ODIs.

After his playing career, Srinath works as a match referee for the ICC.
