Bengaluru man strangles live-in partner to death – how Instagram friendship turns into murder mystery | Today’s news

Recently, there was a tragic murder incident involving a man from Bengaluru who killed his live-in partner over an argument. The Karnataka Police told PTI on Wednesday that a 27-year-old man was involved in a heated argument with a woman at their rented accommodation in Bengaluru’s Malleswaram area.

The accused, identified as Sharath, worked as a water tanker driver in Bengaluru and hailed from Sakleshpur in Hassan district. For the past six months, Sharath has been living with a 20-year-old woman named Anusha. A couple who met on Instagram got into an argument on Saturday night. Amid disagreements over personal and family issues, Sharath allegedly strangled the woman to death. About a year ago, the two met through a social networking platform.

However, the lawyer informed the police about the incident two days later. It was Sharath who approached the advocate after the incident. On Monday, a team from Seshadripuram police station immediately reached the spot for inspection.

“The accused and the victim met on Instagram about a year ago and became close. They moved in together about six months ago. On Saturday night, both allegedly consumed alcohol and got into an argument,” Hindustan Times quoted Sheshadripuram Police Inspector S Balakrishna as saying.

He added, “During the argument, the accused strangled the woman. We got the information after the accused sought legal help. Based on the information received, we apprehended him and arrested him.”

According to the senior police officer, a case of murder was registered after which the accused was arrested. Anusha’s body was sent to KC General Hospital in Malleswaram for post-mortem. After a medical examination, the body will be handed over to the family.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the killing and are taking statements from relatives, neighbors and other potential witnesses, police said.

Bengaluru police have cracked a golden two-wheeler theft case

In another unrelated incident, the Malleshwaram police cracked a gold theft case and seized items worth 1.64 million. According to the police, the accused stole under the pretext of buying gold ornaments. Two of the accused were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Ornaments weighing 1 kg 08 grams were recovered from the accused, police said on Tuesday.

Bengaluru police also arrested 3 other accused in connection with two wheeler theft. Bengaluru police revealed 60 stolen two-wheelers recovered in a post on X on June 16, they said, “Jayanagar and Sampigehalli police have cracked several cases of two-wheeler theft and seized vehicles worth 37 million. The operation helped unearth 32 cases registered across different police station limits in Bengaluru.
