Bengaluru legal metrology official arrested for accepting bribe

Lokayukta officials on Monday caught the Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology red-handed while accepting bribe from a trader for processing a pending license application.

The complainant, Kiran RM, son of R. Muniraju and a consultant residing in RS Palya, alleged that Vanishree MS, Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology, 4th Circle, Mapana Bhavan, demanded bribe for approval of packaging license related to mobile accessories.

The official allegedly demanded ₹10,000 for processing the application. Following the complaint, the officials laid a trap and allegedly caught the police officer accepting ₹5,000 as part of the bribe amount.

Vanishree was taken into custody under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway.
