Clothing and textile workers (Gatwu), who demanded the end of clothing workers, asked the State Government to provide dignified working conditions and cancel new working laws during the Sunday convention of clothing workers in the city.
Prathibha, President of Gatwa, pointed out that while workers in other planned industries receive a minimum wage of approximately 18 000 GBP per month, clothing workers are still stuck to 12,800 GBP. “The recent announcement of the minimum wage issued in April 2025 shocking excluded sectors, such as garments where women are concentrated, and proposes a minimum wage of 25,000 GBP for other industries,” she said. She asked how such discrimination could be done and demanded it.
Nirmala, state vice president of Aicctu, said the Convention to the Government. “If the discrimination of clothing workers continues – if they are omitted from wage revisions and are forced into dangerous, exploitative working conditions – workers will reach the streets and take their rights”.
