In a special operation, the North East Division of the Bengaluru City Police recovered 692 lost and stolen mobile phones worth around ₹ 1.75 crore using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
Police teams from 11 police stations worked intensively during April 2026 to trace missing mobile phones reported by citizens. The coordinated drive has resulted in a resurgence of equipment from various brands.
According to police data, enforcement took place in three subdivisions. In Yelahanka sub-division, Yelahanka police seized 83 phones, Yelahanka New Town 76, Kodigehalli 66 and Vidyaranyapura 86. In Sampigehalli sub-division, Sampigehalli police seized 107 phones, Kothanur 70, Delivanhalru 85. Chikkajal police seized 34 phones, Devanahalli 12 and KIA police station 7.
