Bengaluru Bus Strike 5th August Live Update: Daily life stopped across Karnataka on Tuesday, when employees from all four state road transport corporations launched an indefinite strike, causing great inconvenience to thousands of commuters. Government buses in cities, including Bengalur, Mangaluru, Mysur and Hubballi, were largely off the roads and stuck everyday passengers. The strike was called trade unions KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC, although the High Court in Karnataka issued a day earlier in the protest.
In Bengalur and Mangalur, people were seen as trying to find alternative transport to achieve their destinations. The news suggests that private buses and cabin operators took advantage of the situation by turing. AuthorickShaw drivers in the capital were also accused of excessive billing.
Several buses were seen in rural areas where some employees decided not to join the strike. To manage the crisis, according to the PTI report, the transport corporation reportedly deployed trainee drivers.
The capitals such as Chikkamagalur, Raichur, Chitradurg, Dharwad and Belagavi were witnessed by a difficult rush in the early hours, but with unavailable public transport, passengers were forced to look for other means of traveling.
