A Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight from Doha, Qatar was diverted to Muscat, Oman on Thursday after a crew member reportedly required urgent medical attention.
The Hindustan Times, citing a statement from the airline, said the crew member received immediate medical attention after landing.
The airline further said, “A replacement aircraft with fresh crew has been arranged to continue its journey to Bengaluru. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and are making every effort to minimize it, including offering refreshments and timely updates while they wait for the aircraft in Muscat. The safety of our customers, crew and aircraft remains our top priority at IndiGo.”
A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight makes an emergency landing in Goa
The incident occurred two days after a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Goa made an emergency landing after returning to Manohar International Airport when the pilot reported a suspected engine failure shortly after take-off. The flight, which had 229 people on board, departed at 9:16 a.m. and landed safely at 9:50 a.m.
Citing a source, news agency PTI said on Tuesday: “IndiGo flight 6E 2102, which departed Goa for Delhi at 9:16 am, returned to Goa after reporting a malfunction in one of its engines. Air Traffic Control (ATC) declared a full emergency around 9:30 am and the aircraft landed safely on the runway at 9:51 am at 8:51 pm.”
Commenting on the incident, an IndiGo spokesperson said, “Shortly after take-off, IndiGo flight 6E 2102 operating from North Goa to Delhi experienced a technical problem,” adding, “As per standard operating procedure, the relevant authorities were informed and the pilots turned around and landed the aircraft safely at Manohar International Airport.”
