After a delay of almost one and a half months, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) started to raise compound beams to enter Blue Line Depot in Benniganahali of Friday night. The work continued after the compulsory consent of the southwest rail (SWR).
According to officials, BMRCL was allowed to continue according to the provisions of the Indian railway schedule of the AC TRACTION. “The work will be done by BMRCL under the supervision of railways,” the clerk said.
The project was stopped since the end of July, because the railway zone did not make a night block, a block of power and the speed limit needed to start the beams through the Salem railway line. “The delay was influenced by the timelines for the central silk plate – BaiyyAppanahali in the Orr Metro Blue Line,” another official said.
In February this year, BMRCL successfully launched four composite steel beams across the Salem Bridge between ISRO and Doddekundi metro stations. This operation, considered a critical milestone for phase 2a of the project, included comprehensive engineering due to the active alignment of railways.
Orr – Airport Metro, also called blue line, is one of the most ambitious Bengalur metro corridors. It is scheduled to complete by December 2027 and includes 58.19 km, connects the Central Silk Board intersection in the south with the International KEVEGOWDA Airport in the north.
The line is divided into two sections: phase 2a, covering 19.75 km from the silk plate to Krishnajapura (KR PURAM) and phase 2b, stretching 38.44 km from Kr Puram to the airport. Together they provide a continuous metro corridor along the outer road road (ORR) and further to the airport.
