
Bengaluru: Up to 26 patients were moved to another ward after a fire broke out on Tuesday in the morning at the Bengalur Hospital Hospital.
At the time of the fire, there were 26 patients on Burns Ward – including 14 men, five women and seven children.
Among 26 patients were five patients in the ICU, Ramesh Krishna K, Dean and director of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in his statement by PTI.
No victims or injuries were reported in the incident, the officials said.
Cause of fire
According to hospital officials, it is assumed that the fire that broke out on Tuesday was a short circuit of the switching plate in the seminar room next to the Burns department on the first floor of Victoria Hospital.
The resident physician on the service noticed the fire and immediately warned the authorities. The fire brigade came and extinguished the fire.
“With regard to smoke and as a preventive measure, we have moved all 26 patients with burns from this department to Victoria Hospital.
Code red, orange protocols activated
After receiving information about the fire, the hospital authorities immediately activated the red and code orange protocols.
At the time of the incident, there were 24 night service employees in the department, while the staff out of service quickly arrived to help with the evacuation.
None of the ICU patients were on fans, and the medical team ensured that their oxygen supply remained stable during the evacuation process, according to Dr. YogeshwarAppa, who spoke to Hindu.
Burns Ward
The Burns Ward Victoria Hospital is currently an inspection and is expected to continue normal services after the necessary repairs and security checks, Hindu reported.
